Snake inspired jewelry biting big with the stars

Thanks to Brangelina’s new jewelry line for Asprey, snake inspired jewelry is now an official celebrity must have. Actually, snake jewelry has been rearing its head for a couple of years now, but the recent months have certainly showed that it’s more than alive and kicking.

Asprey, a high end company, is showcasing jewelry designs by Brad and Angelina adorned with snakes. The actress says that she received a snake ring while she was pregnant with Shiloh, and considered it to be a talisman and protector of sorts. In turn, the name of the collection is “The Protector” and all of the proceeds will be heading for a good cause.

Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson to Miley Cyrus, have all been seen wearing this snake inspired jewelry. Jewelry designs vary, from snake bracelets to colorful snake rings and necklaces to other whimsical designs like a snake baby spoon and jewelry box.  Of course, if you want to have the same piece as what the celebs are sporting, then be prepared to also spend in celebrity currency since the pieces require at least $525 for you to own them.

However, don’t fret, you can easily find the same snake inspired jewelry at much more affordable prices. Places like Emitations.com make it easy for us, ordinary people, to get these beautiful pieces for a more affordable price.

If you want to update your fashion sense or simply want something different to express your personality and style, try out snake inspired jewelry and let your inner fashionista come out.snake ringRelated Links

Devon Aoki: Print Ad Favorite

Print ads are one of the best ways to catch a customer’s attention. Through the years, so many figures have endorsed countless brands of products and services. Brand owners hope to get a boost in sales because of the familiar face promoting their brand of perfume or clothing.

Personally, if there was one print ad model that I admire, it’s Devon Aoki. At 5’6” tall, she is a top model who has done runway shows for big fashion names like Lancôme, Chanel and Versace. Her repertoire extends beyond the runway; she’s also involved with other projects and has starred in several movies. Among the most notable of her movies would be Sin City, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Dead or Alive, to name a few.

However, I most like her because of the print ads that she has done. I love fashion and adore her ad campaigns like Versace Atelier by Steven Meisel, Junko Shimada by Bettina Komenda, YSL by Juergen Teller, and Chanel Couture by Karl Lagerfeld among others.  Since she’s a model, she’s mostly done campaigns for designers, but she’s not limited to that.

My favorite would be the ad she did for Moschino. One picture shows her with a “twin,” she one twin showcases the schoolgirl look and the other a Japanese punk, party princess.  Being partly Japanese makes her perfect for this campaign.

She might not have the typical model look, or the model height, but when it comes to print ad modeling, Devon Aoki has got it down to pat. She gets my favorite print ad model award hands down.

Coco Chanel: The Godmother of Fashion

Who would have thought that a French lady working on clothes on her little millinery shop would one day build and dictate a fashion empire that millions will strive to emulate? Such was the story of Coco Chanel.

Noted by Time Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People of the 20th century, Coco Chanel was a premiere fashion designer that inspired so many people in the pursuit of modernist philosophy and simplicity in her fashion pieces.

Chanel started out designing hats and had wealthy patrons that adored it. Soon, she started delving into more couture pieces, using jersey, which was unheard of in the French fashion world until then. When 1920s came, she had managed to expand her fashion house and her chemise set with its boyish look and design became a hit in French society. She took a more casual feel for her pieces instead of the laced up and overburdened corset styles of the previous decades.

Perhaps what she’s most known for is her signature perfume, Chanel No. 5. Even today, it is still one of the most popular perfume products. Other fashion piece that she has solidified in the fashion consciousness of the industry was her signature cardigan jackets as well as her “little black dress” piece.

Chanel died at the age of 81 in her private room in Hotel Ritz in Paris. Today, many musicals, books, and film depictions have been created centering on the fashion icon’s life. The latest one is Coco Avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel) starring Chanel’s new spokeswoman, Audrey Tautou.

Miu Miu Fall Fashion and Embellished Socks

When fashion giant Miu Miu sent a pair of encrusted socks in strappy, high heeled Maryjane’s down their fall runway, you know there was going to be a feast for all the fashionista’s tuned in.

Born out of the shadows of fashion titan Prada, Miu Miu certainly has made a name for itself in the fashion industry. Their Fall 2009 collection showcased quintessential Parisian fashion with coat dresses and exposed nude colored brassieres. The brand also sent out dresses and coats made from what most people thought looked like upholstery fabric. Other interests in the collections included pairing beautiful silk blouses with long flowing skirts.

However, one thing that set the radar of most fashion iconoclasts was the shoes that walked the runway. Prada’s little sister showed gorgeous strappy sandals in great neutral and bold colors and occasionally lined with fur. What’s more, they even paired it with embellished thigh high socks. Now, this got most people thinking. Is this really fashion or not? It is a Fall collection after all, so why not go for fashion and comfort, by keeping your legs warm while rocking that gorgeous skirt at the dead of winter?

These interesting socks can be bought from any Miu Miu branch at $425 a pair. However, if you’re looking to exercise some creativity, why not head off to the craft shop, get some fabric glue, beads and whole lot of embellishments and create your own version of the socks. They can do wonders to your ordinary looking Mary Jane shoes or T-strap sandals.
